JUST THE TIP

acrylic on canvas

31.25” W x 47” H

2026

“Just the Tip” is an artwork that focuses on the male body, with a title that deliberately calls attention to proportion and desire. The composition is direct and unapologetic. Only a portion of the figure is visible, with a pronounced V-line guiding the viewer’s eye toward the focal point - something that is intentionally difficult to ignore.

Beneath the obvious, the piece reflects a more personal process. It comes from a time when I found myself becoming increasingly consumed by body image and the pressure to perform - seeking validation externally rather than internally. In working through this piece, I began to better understand how those dynamics were shaping both my perspective and my sense of self.

It also speaks to a broader tension within the gay community, one I’ve experienced firsthand - the speed at which we can judge, while simultaneously participating in the same behaviors we critique. The reactions to this work have mixed. Some view it as bold or confrontational, others question whether it crosses a line and was to “in your face”. There’s a contradiction in what is accepted privately versus what is challenged publicly.
