GRASP

“Grasp” represents the feeling of trying to hold everything together when the world around you feels like it’s falling apart. For me, this piece reflects the internal struggle of trying to maintain control over the different areas of my life, and the overwhelming feeling that can come when even one of them begins to feel out of balance. Sometimes, a small shift in one area can make everything else feel uncertain, as though the stability I’ve worked so hard to maintain is suddenly slipping away.

I think there is something deeply human about the need to hold on, to convince ourselves that we have everything under control, even when internally we know that is not true. We put pressure on ourselves to keep moving, to show up, and to hold it together, often without acknowledging how much energy it takes just to feel okay. For me, Grasp captures the moment when that pressure becomes overwhelming, when you want to do something to regain control but find yourself frozen, unsure of where to begin or how to move forward.

Perhaps the hardest part is realizing that sometimes, in trying so desperately to keep everything from falling apart, we forget to give ourselves permission to simply feel what we are feeling. Ultimately, Grasp is about that vulnerable space between control and uncertainty, and the quiet struggle of trying to find stability within yourself when everything around you feels unsteady.
